Torab Ali, who was acquitted by the High Court in BDR mutiny case, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday, reports UNB. The former ward-level leader of Dhaka City Awami League breathed his last at Coronary Care Unit (CCU) around 6 am, said Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Babul Miah of DMCH police outpost. He was taken to the hospital from Dhaka Central Jail on January 3 as he fell ill, the police official added. Earlier on May 3, 2015, a trial court had sentenced 152 people to death, and sentenced 160 others, including Dhaka City unit leader of Awami League Torab Ali and former BNP MP Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, to life in prison. Torab Ali was also a former officer of BDR.
