Stocks ended the week yesterday upward with rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transactions, reports BSS. The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 58.32 points higher at 6,302.84. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 11.99 points up at 2,295.22 and with 16.93 points up at 1,407.60.
Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 231 gained against 83 losing issues. The daily average trade value at DSE was 8.7 per cent up at Tk 519.14 crore and the trade volume was 23.6 per cent up at 14.33 crore shares. During the week, the top five gainers were Jute Spinning, DSSL, Dulamia Cotton, MEGCONMILK and Legacy Foot. The five major losing companies were AIL, ISNLTD, Shympur Sugar, BD Lamps and Northern.
The top five turnover leaders were UPGDCL, DSSL, Lafarge Surma Cement, PTL and Islami Bank. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 226.95 points higher at 19,494.99.
