SNV Netherlands launches inclusive business models
SNV Netherlands Development Organisation yesterday launched a project named Inclusive Business Models which emphasised sexual and reproductive health and rights issues of female garment workers in Bangladesh.
Under the project of Working with Women, the organisation will implement the Inclusive Business Models to create awareness among the female workers regarding different health issues including malnutrition, pregnancy complications, incorrect use family planning materials, reproductive infections and diseases undermine the productivity of the RMG industry.
Some 4 million people work at different garment factories in Bangladesh of which 2.5 million are women who largely come from rural areas and disadvantaged backgrounds, said speakers at the launching programme of the project at Lakeshore hotel in the capital yesterday.
Many female workers do not know the importance of sexual reproductive health and many factories lack trained medical and nursing stuff and many workers do not know where to seek services, or can not access them due to long working hours and financial constraints, they said.
