National football team captain Mamun Islam is looking forward to play the best match of his career as Bangladesh will face Australia in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match in Perth on September 3.
“It’s a challenge for me to give my best display and every player of the team is deeming to show their best in the match,” said Mamunul Islam captain of the Bangladesh football team in a press meet yesterday at BFF Bhaban.
All members of the team are going to Australia with full confidence to give a spirited display against the Asian giants. Before facing the Socceroos for the first time, the team will play a FIFA friendly with Malaysia national squad in Kuala Lumpur on August 28. The Bangladesh team is scheduled to fly for Malaysia on early hour of August 27 and leave for Perth on August 29.
Mamunul Islam and coach Lodewijk De Kruif, while talking to media yesterday regarding their match against Australia said that it is a big opportunity to play against such a big side and to play good football against them is their only objective.
“This is a great journey and great visit. It is big challenge to represent the country in such a big occasion. It is a great opportunity to prove ourselves and let see to do well against the Asian No 4 team,” said Kruif.
Kruif, replying to a query about the prospect of the match, the Dutch coach, who started the training only two days back, said, “In football everything can be happened. Australia is a fantastic team. Very high profile team, but we are a professional team, when we are going there to play against them, all of us are motivated. I talked to my boys, every one is motivated.”
“We are going there to fight, to battle for 90 minutes times, no body knows what will happen,” Kruif revealed when asked what could be result.
Kruif about his strategy said, “We will have to 85 percent of our defensive and combat organisation.”
But the coach choose forward Aminur Rahman Sajib to replace the central back and also an influential player of the team, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, who was out of the team at the last moment due to ‘Dengue fever’. Replying to a query said, “I choose him for his physical advantage, he has good fitness, he is speedy, young and energetic. I think, I have full confidence on Rayhan, Linkon, Meshu, Yasin and others, I have no doubt about
their ability.”
Kruif also explained about his plan with forwards of same position Jahid Hossain and Jewel Rana while he said, “Yes, both the players are very sharp in their movement and we are thinking how we can bring them to play in the first eleven.”
Mamunul Islam, who has already expressed his feelings about the match that all the players are very excited to have the opportunity to play against a World Cuppers, told the media, “It is a great opportunity to do something good. Everybody is very eager to do well.”
“Coach has already given us some directions, he also told us to take us to take ideas about Australia, and we also set our plan how we will play, but perfect implementation is important. It is such a like match, which would be a fight between two uneven strengthened teams. But we are not afraid of, we are all motivated and our attitude is very positive, if we can give our 100 percent then we would be able to do well,” said Mamunul.
