Rahmatganj fight to avoid relegation

Rahmaganj MFS earned a valuable point to keep a slim hope to avoid the relegation when they ended their 19th round match with a goalless draw with Team BJMC in the Saif Power Battery Bangaldesh premier League football yesterday.

Held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, after the draw BJMC brought their tally to 19 points from 20 matches and from as many matches Rahmatganj managed 14 points.   

Rahmatganj MFS, who appeared as huge threat last season for all and for the giants they were frightened, as there was every possibility to be a relegation victim of the Old Dhaka outfit.

Specially, in the first leg of the previous season Rahmatganj were among the top four of the points table in the first leg with making some of the title contenders as their prey to snatch full points and sometimes forced to share points, though could not keep the momentum in the second leg.

But this season it is fully a different or reverse story of the last season’s giants’ killers when they have been struggling from the beginning of the season and ultimately facing relegation threat when they are one of the bottom sides in the point table.

The match against BJMC yesterday was very important for them to brighten their slim hopes to avoid the relegation but could equal the points tally with the other relegation threatened Farashganj Sporting Club who also assembled 14 points from 20 matches.

However, on the day Rahmatganj played with better dominance and also enjoyed the possessions most of the game and kept the Team BJMC under huge pressure but could not turn  any of their close range chances into goal.

Rahmatganj could have got their most coveted lead in the very fourth minute but Mohammed Sohel’s consecutive attempts were denied by a defender and the goalkeeper.
