Country’s general inflation rate increased to 5.93 percentage point in second quarter (October-December) of the current fiscal from 5.86 percentage point in first quarter (July - September) due to price increase of non food items.
Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal expects that the inflation rate would come down within one and half month. He made this comment while releasing the quarterly consumer price index (CPI) after the meeting of Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) at Economic Relations Division conference room in the capital yesterday.
He caused the flash flood and excessive rain this year soared the food price.
According to the CPI report of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistic (BBS) the general inflation rate in rural area reached to 5.97 percentage point in second quarter of the current fiscal while it was 4.69 percentage point in corresponding period of last fiscal.
In urban area the inflation rate came down to 5.86 percentage point in second quarter from 6.50 percentage point in first quarter.
The BBS report showed that price of lentil, egg, fish, meat, vegetable decreased in second quarter.
