Bangabandhu had plan to nationalise all edn institutions gradually: Sherif
ISHWARDI: Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif yesterday said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had a plan to nationalize all the educational institutions gradually throughout the country, reports BSS.
“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced to nationalizs all the primary schools across the country after the Independence,” said the minister while inaugurating textbook distribution programme at Basherbada Bahumukhi High School at Ishwardin upazila, Pabna.
Then Bangabandhu also declared that all the educational institutions would be nationalized gradually, Sharif said.
The minister distributed about 2,5000 books among 2,200 students of the upazila at the event.
Sharif said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was working restlessly for implementation of the pledges announced by Bangabandhu. He also urged all people to work unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for building Sonar Bangla dreamt by Father of the Nation.
The government is distributing 35 crore 46 lakh textbooks among the students across the country.
Police baton-charge JCD anniv rally, 46 hurt in clashes
Chuadanga: At least 250 leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were sued over allegedly attacking police personnel and creating obstacles to public works on Monday, reports UNB.
Mizanur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station filed the case accusing 28 named -including district unit JCD convener Sharif-ur-Jaman Sijar -and 222 unnamed leaders and activists.
On Monday morning, a clash ensued between police personnel and JCD men when police obstructed them from holding a showdown rally at Sreemanto Town Hall marking the 39th founding anniversary of JCD.
Chase and counter-chase between the two sides left Amir Abbas, officer-in-charge (operations) of Sadar police station, among six policemen who suffered injuries.
At least 200/250 JCD leaders and activists of the district unit gathered at Sreemanto Town Hall area for a procession rally marking the 39th founding anniversary of JCD, but police baton-charged the gathering to disperse the rally. Following the baton charge, a chase and counter chase ensued that left at least 40 leaders and activists of JCD injured. Later police filed the case with the police station at night.
Woman found dead in Bogra

A divorced woman was killed allegedly by her ex-husband at Shahpara in Bogra town on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Pinki Begum, 22, daughter of Shutku Mia of Shah Para in the town.
Victim’s father said she was married to Rubel Mia of Khandar area three years back. As Rubel started torturing his wife after marriage, she divorced her husband five months ago.
Afterwards, Rubel was giving threat to kill her, he added.
Deceased’s mother Fahima Begum said after returning home she saw Pinky’s throat-slit body at the house.
When contacted, Inspector (Investigation) of sadar police station Kamruzzaman Mia said autopsy was done and preparation is going on to file a murder case.
