Five cultural personalities accorded reception
RAJSHAHI: Five cultural personalities were accorded a reception and awarded in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the cultural field, reports BSS. The award winning persons are: Abdur Rahsid (drama), Freedom Fighter Abdul Jalil (musical instrument), Abdul Khaleque Chhana (song) Abdus Samad (folk song) and Ahsan Kabir Liton (film). Shilpakala Academy gave the District Shilpakala Award-2017 formally at a function held in its auditorium here on Sunday evening. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Noor-Ur-Rahman was the chief guest.
Dr Shafiqul gets best paediatric surgeon award
Prof Shafiqul Hoq, ex-chairman of Paediatric Surgery department of BSMMU, has been awarded with Professor Quazi Quamruzzaman Best Paediatric Surgeon Gold Medal- 2017, says a press release Association of paediatric Surgeon of Bangladesh (APSB) at their 6th annual conference held at Seagull Hotel in Coxs Bazar conferred the medal to Prof Shafiqul. This award is named by the name of Professor Quazi Quamruzzaman, the founder of APSB, freedom fighter and the Chairman of Dhaka Community Hospital Trust. It is awarded to the best paediatric surgeon by APSB every year. The conference was presided over by Prof Abdul Aziz, President APSB while Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin , President, BMA, was the chief.
Certificate distribution ceremony held
The Trust Technical Training Institute (TTTI), a vocational training institute, operating by Bangladesh Army, distributed certificates and prizes among its students of July-December 2017 session on Monday. Principal of the institute Lieutenant colonel (retd) Mohammed Asadur Rahman Khan presided over the programme. TTTI sources said total 965 students completed eight different trade courses in July-December 2017 session. Among the students, 246 came from Bangladesh army and 50 students came from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while the rest general students.
