A four-member bench, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, passed the order rejecting a petition filed by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA). On July 29, 2010, the HC gave the order in response to a petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). Later, the BIWTA filed an appeal with the Appellate Division.
