Remove BIWTA recreation centre in Buriganga: SC

UNB

The Supreme Court yesterday upheld a High Court order asking the government to remove within 30 days the BIWTA recreation centre in Buriganga River at Kamrangirchar, reports UNB. A four-member bench, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, passed the order rejecting a petition filed by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA). On July 29, 2010, the HC gave the order in response to a petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). Later, the BIWTA filed an appeal with the Appellate Division.
