SUST okays Tk 58.72cr budget

SYLHET: The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) authorities approved Tk 58.72 crore as the annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-16, with a low allocation in the research sector like the previous year. University Finance Director ANM Joynal Abedin on Monday informed the journalist about the budget. Of the amount, Tk 41.05 crore will be spent for the salaries of teachers and officials while only Tk 10 lakh would be spent for research. A total of Tk 1.5 crore would be spent for pension sector, Tk 6 crore for general sector, while Tk 7.10 crore is allocated for academic sector, Tk 70 lakh for maintenance sector and Tk 2.37 crore for capital grants. This year, the university will ensure Tk 7 crore from its internal sources while University Grants Commission (UGC) give Tk 51.72 crore.
