Two ‘criminals’ lynched

Two alleged criminals were killed in a mob attack at Chingrakhali in Kaliganj upazila yesterday morning,
reports UNB.
The deceased have been identified as Ashraf Mir and his associate Ishaq. Police quoting villagers said a group of criminals, numbering 50 to 60 and led by Ashraf Mir, an inhabitant of Kajla Kashibati village of the upazila, attacked the houses of some landless people in Chingrakhali village, aiming to evict them from their places. The attackers also exploded 40 crude bombs in the area, leaving 10 people injured.
At one stage, the landless people surrounded the criminals and caught three of them. They gave them mass beating and handed them over to police.Police also seized a pipe-gun and three live bombs from the spot.
Three fake DB men arrested

Police arrested three fake Detective Branch (DB) policemen in Jamalpur town yesterday.
The arrestees were Sumon, 28, a resident of Fulbaria, Shawn,22, Dewanpara and Mukhlesur Rahman,21, of College road area in the town.Police sources said the arrested persons have been demanding money from two businessmen threatening them of arrest. Acting on a tip off, police arrested them from Dewanpara area in the town. A case has been registered with Jamalpur Sadar police station.
Youth crushed under train
Rajbari: A youth was killed as a train hit him at Golanda Bazar in Goalondo upazila yesterday noon, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Faruk Molla, 28, of Kumarkandi village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Rajbari Government Railway Police (GRP) station M Harun Morshed said a Daulatdia -bound cargo train hit Faruk at Goalando Bazar rail gate at noon, leaving him dead on the spot.Railway police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Jamaat leader held in Satkhira
Satkhira: Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from a madrasah in Choigharia area of Sadar upazila on Sunday on charges of murder and subversive activities, reports UNB.
The arrestee was Maulana Mosharaf Hossain, ameer of Ghona union unit Jamaat and super of Abdus Sattar Dakhil Madrasa and inhabitant of Chhanka village in the upazila.
Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said he was wanted in several cases.
