A sub inspector was arrested along with a stolen motorcycle of a journalist at Taltola of Sylhet city yesterday evening, reports UNB. The arrestee is Samiran Singh, residential officer of Deputy Commissioner's Office of Sylhet Municipality Police. Later the SI was closed primarily, said Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Gousul Hossain. Further steps will be taken after contacting higher authorities, he added.
Earlier on December 20, journalist Maruf Ahmed's motorcycle was stolen from a restaurant at Manikpir Road of the city. Maruf filed a case and bought a new bike.
On Thursday, when Maruf went to a workshop at Taltola to repair his new bike he found Samiran with his stolen one and tactfully informed the investigation officer of his case, Shafiqul Islam, Sub Inspector of Kotwali Police Station.
On information, a team of police arrested SI Samiran from the spot.
