AL candidate wins in Boda municipality

Vote held in 9 paurasabhas, 115 UPs across country

Awami League candidate Advocate Wahiduzzaman Suja was unofficially declared winner in the Boda municipality polls in Panchagarh held yesterday, report agencies. Suja bagged 5,209 votes while his nearest rival AKM Akhter Hossain, a BNP rebel candidate, polled 4,196. Returning officer of the election M Shahidul Islam announced the results at the control room set up at the upazila parishad in the evening. Earlier, voting took place at nine pourasabhas and 115 union councils in the country from at 8 am and till 4 pm yesterday. Among these, three pourasabhas were by-elections while 37 union councils election were held and 78 by-elections in Ups. The EC asked M Nazrul Islam, Officer in Charge (OC)

of Commilla Sadar Dakshin Model Thana, to refrain from the election duties. An instruction signed by joint secretary of the Election Commission secretariat Farhad Ahammad Khan was sent to the Police Super of Comilla in this regard. The six municipalities are: Boda in Panchagarh district, Bonpara in Natore, Alfadanga in Faridpur, Bakshiganj in Jamalpur, Bagha in Rajshahi and Birol in Dinajpur.

The 37 union parishads are; Joyari and Majhgaon in Natore district, Razarampur in Dinajpur, Ghuridah in Gaibandha, Uthli, Kedike and Manoharpur in Chuadanga, Alfadanga, Buraich and Gopalpur in Faridpur, Mulna in Shariatpur, Zinnagarh, Nilkamal and Aminabad in Bhola, Ronagopaldi in Patuakhali, Nurpur and Brahmandora in Habiganj, Fultola in Moulvibazar, Bakoi Dakkhin, Mudaffarganj Uttor, Mudaffarganj Dakkhin, Doulkhar, Raikot Uttar, Raikot Dakkhin, Adra Uttar, Adra Dakkhin, Jodda Purbo, Jodda Paschim, Bottoli, Iliotganj Dakkhin, Barpara, Daulatpur and Bakoi Uttar in Comilla, Noyainnai, Noakhali and Dharmapur in Noakhali, Char Alexandra in Laxmipur
