This year, the Yunnan Provincial Photographers’ Association (YPPA)successfully held a number of South and Southeast Asia-oriented exhibitions and activities in order to expand the province’s international reputation and influence.
During the 2017 China-South Asia and Southeast Asia Arts Week,and the Lancang-Mekong Arts Festival, the YPPA successfully hosted the fourth South and Southeast Asia Photography Exhibition at the Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 200 works taken by photographers from all over China —as well as those from 18 South and Southeast Asian countries including India, Bangladesh, Laos, Singapore, Cambodia and Myanmar participated. Additionally, the YPPA made great efforts to promote Yunnan as a “paradise for photographers” in an effort to build the province into an international photography brand. The YPPA held seven sessions at the Dali International Photography Exhibition, four at the China-South and Southeast Asia International Photography Exhibition, six at the Luoping International Photography Festival, five at the Xishuangbanna International Photography Exhibition and three at the Honghe Hani Rice Terrace World Heritage International Photography Exhibition.
