Amol leads three others to join semis

Former national champion Amol Roy of Engineers Recreation Centre led three other to join in the semifinals of men’s singles event of Runner Victory Day Tennis Tournament.

A south-paw Amol eliminated  Hanif Molla of  National Tennis Complex (NTC) 6-7, 7-6. 6-2 at the NTC in the capital yesterday,

Ranjan Ram of International Club defeated Akhtar Hossain of Ansar Club 6-3, 7-5, Dipu Lal of Bangladesh Daras outplayed his teammate Mofazzal Hossain 6-1, 6-1 and Milon Hossain of Narsingdi beat Selim Hossain of Manikganj 6-2, 6-7, 7-5  in the other three quarterfinals.

The women’s singles event also reached the last four stages. Afrana Islam Preeti of Narsingdi ousted Shah Safina Luxmi of Ansar Club 6-2, 7-5,  Sultana Joly of BKSP downed her teammate Sadia Afrin 6-0, 6-1, Fabiha  Lamisa Suchona of NTC beat Rinvi Akhtar of BKSP 6-0, 6-4 and Ishita Afroze of BKSP beat  Sumaiya Hossain o Lia of Elie Tennis Club 6-0, 6-0 in the four quarterfinals.
