Chinese delegation calls on DU VC

A five-member delegation of Zhongyang University in China on Tuesday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office here.

The delegation members are Zhong of Zhongyang University Computer Science School Dean Prof Liu Weiguang Economics and Management School Dean Prof Zhao Zhiquan, Foreign Language School Dean Prof Guo Wanqun, Educational Co-operation and Exchange Deputy Director Gong Hailong and Party Committee Secretary Prof Cui Shi, said a DU press release here. During the meeting, they exchanged views on issues of bilateral interests of the two universities, particularly on joint educational and technological programmes.

They discussed the possibilities of exchanging teachers, students and researchers between the two universities, the release added.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked the delegation for visiting DU and expressing keen interest towards the education programmes of the university.

DU publishes home economics college admission test results

The admission test results of Home Economics colleges affiliated to Biological Sciences Faculty of Dhaka University (DU) were published yesterday.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman formally announced the results at the central online admission test office on the campus for admission into first year honors courses under academic session 2017-18, said a DU press release here. A total 5,274 aspirants among 5,869 secured the pass mark against 2,475 seats in the colleges, the release added. The results of the admission test are available on the university website admission.eis.du.ac.bd. The admission seekers can also know their results through sending SMS to 16321 from any telecom operator following the format DU GOC, according to the release.

BRACU Global Model United Nations starts

The opening ceremony of BRAC University Global Model United Nations (BUGMUN) took place in Dhaka's Army Golf Garden yesterday. 

Prof Syed Saad Andaleeb, Vice-chancellor of BRAC University, was the chief guest. Other honorable guests included Dr Mirza Azizul Islam and Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, both Professors of BRAC University Business School. Md Mustafizur Rahman, the Deputy Managing Director of Bashundhara Group as well as AM Shakil Faizullah, Communications Manager under the Communication, Advocacy and Partnership Section of UNICEF Children's Fund were special guests. The 5-day conference modelled after the UN, BUGMUN is an educational simulation that brings together students as delegates, from various countries in one place to discuss key global issues for possible solutions. BUGMUN is taking place for the 3rd time this year, from December 27 to 31with the sole purpose of engaging the youth in matters of the world, while building their leadership, communication, networking and diplomatic abilities.
