AGENCIES

Key share price indices in the country’s twin bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - went down yesterday, 1the 2nd trading day of the week while turnover at DSE came down bellow Tk 400 crore, report agencies.
The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell below 4800-point mark again mainly because of continuous dull transaction.
The DSEX was 37.71 points down at close yesterday, with the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES falling to 1832.05 and 1178.03 respectively.
Market analysts said mixed economic data made investors largely shaky in making fresh investment decision, bringing the transaction as well as price indices down.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith yesterday hinted that the fuel oil price would be adjusted with the falling trend in the international market.  On the same day, Bangladesh Bank (BB) monthly statistic showed rising trend in the non-food inflation.
The daily trade value slid by 14.62 per cent to hit the two-month low at Tk 399.35 while the volume declined by nearly 19.0 per cent to 10.30 crore shares.
The dull transactions resulted in price fall across the board when 222 securities closed lower, with most of the sectors finishing the session in red. Only bank, fuel and power, textile and telecom ended marginally higher.
The top five gainers were Zeal Bangla, Modern Dye, NFML, Shasha Denim and Quasem Drycell and the worst losing issues were Northern Jute, Apex Foods, FBIF, Prime1ICBA and ICB Islami Bank.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Northern Jute Manufacturing, Apex Foods, First Bangladesh Fixed Income Fund, Prime Bank 1st ICB AMCL Mutual Fund, ICB Islamic Bank, Apex Spinning & Knitting Mills, Union Capital, Premier Leasing & Finance, Wata Chemicals, and IFIC Bank.
SPCL topped the turnover list followed by Square Pharma, Islami Bank, Lafarge Surma, UPGDCL and Apex Foods. Chittagong Stock Exchange closed lower, with its major CSCX index losing 64.62 points to finish the day at 8956.98.
