Bangladesh ready to fight Aussies in Test series: Kayes

Bangladesh Test opener Imrul Kayes was unfazed by the dominating victory of Australia in the last match of the Ashes against England, stating that they need to keep the process right to prove they are on right track in the longer version format.
Australia showed their glimpse of strength by the last Test by an innings and 46 runs victory despite surrendering the Ashes to England. Their new assignment will be against Bangladesh in which they would play two-match Test series with Steven Smith appointing as the captain after Michael Clarke retired from the cricket.
“In Test, we have improved a lot more than the past,” Kayes said.
“The standard of our domestic league and competition has also been improved. Everybody is playing in professional manner. If we all can maintain the process, we do have a good chance.”
Bangladesh never won a Test against a top flight nation since its elevation to the elite level cricket in 2000. They have won seven Tests, all of which came against Zimbabwe and a depleted West Indian side.
In ODI cricket, however, they are now a forced to be reckoned with and winning more often than not against the top oppositions but they are yet to translate the ODI form to the Test. If the Test series against South Africa is anything to go by, Bangladesh could sense a chance against Australia too.
“South Africa is one of the best teams in the world. We gave them a good fight, and sometimes cornered them. That provides us the confidence to give Australia a tough time. All the players are in good form. We are mentally ready and confident to show our improvement in Test cricket as well.”
