Team Ispahani emerged champions in the Max Group Bridge Tournament which concluded at the Engineers Recreation Centre in the capital yesterday.
Team Ispahani defeated Team Liberty by 57-45 IMP in the final. Sajid Ispahani (leader), Shah Ziaul Haque, Naimul Islam, Quamruzzaman Sohag, Moshiur Rahman Sumon and Razib represented Team Ispahani. On the other hand Zahid Hossain led the Team Liberty. The others players were Syed Suja Uddiun, Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Moulana Al Mamun and Ali Ahmed.
The champions received a cash award of Tk 80,000, while runners-up Tk 40,000.
Beginners Team bagged the third spot, while Presidency Team finished fourth.
Shah Ziaul Haque and Sohag clinched the pair event title as they defeated Khondokar Mobinul Islam and Rafiqul Hasan in the final. The third spot went to GM Hanzala and Syed Ahmed Robi, while Naimul Hasan Topu and Salahuddin bagged the fourth place. Ghulam M Alomgir and Ashok Kumar Mondol became the best team among the engineers.
Minister for Housing and Works Engineer Mosharrof Hossain distributed prizes as chief guest. State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikdar was present as special guest. Bangladesh Bridge Federation president Mushfiqur Rahman Mohon and ERC president and Max Group chairman Ghulam M Alomgir were also present. Sanaul Haque Bakul, assistant secretary of the convening committee of the tournament, was also honoured with a crest for his active role in organising the tournament smoothly.
