Banu bags double gold in V-Day gymnastics

Noor Akhtar Banu of BKSP earned a couple of gold medals in the Victory Day Gymnastics Championship held at the NSC gymnasium in the capital yesterday. Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation organized the event with The Blazer BD sponsoring the meet.

Banu won both the balance beam and floor events. Shahidul Islam Saju of Bangladesh Ansar clinched the men’s parallel bars gold, while Md Shafiqul Islam of BKSP bagged the men’s floor gold.

Like Banu, Mifathul Zannat Yama of BKSP also won girls (10-14) floor and balance beam gold medals

In the boys’ division (10-12 years),  Jiban Tripura of Quantum Cosmos School earned the gold in floor. MaungSingh Tripura of the same group won the mushroom event title. Sai Marma of Quantum Cosmos and Bonofuli Chakma of BKSP jointly won the floor event in girls (12-14 years) group.

Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation president  Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, who is also the vice-president of Bangladesh Olympic Association, distributed prizes as chief guest. Enamul Haque Chowdhury, vice president and  Ahmedur Rahman, general secretary of the federation were also present.
