The Independent journo wins Poultry Media Award

Nine journalists, including business reporter of The Independent, have won the Poultry Media Award 2017 in five categories for their contributions to poultry-related news published within November 30 this year. Journalists working for newspapers, news agencies and online, television and radio outlets and poultry magazines received awards for the best reporting on the poultry sector. Each award includes a certificate, a crest and prize money for the journalists from different media who participated in the competition. The prize-giving ceremony was held at the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) auditorium in the capital yesterday.
The awards were given away in a total of five categories. In print media, the first prize was awarded to staff reporter of The Daily Janakantha, Rahim Sheikh, while senior reporter of The Daily Kaler Kantho, Abul Kashem, won the second prize. Sharif Ahmed, business reporter of The Independent, received the third prize.
Chief reporter from The Daily Suprobhat Bangladesh, Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, was the only person to receive an award in the report of publication of newspaper from outside Dhaka category.
In the online category, Mohiuddin Qader, staff reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), was the sole winner.
SM Mukul of Agrinews24.com was the only one to receive a prize in the online poultry and agriculture-related magazine category.
In the TV and radio categories, the first prize was awarded to Shushant Sinha, special correspondent of Jamuna Television, and the second prize to Masum Khan, staff correspondent of Channel24. The third prize went to Golam Kader, senior reporter of ATN News.
