‘People to send red notice to BNP, in polls’

Referring to the BNP chairperson's legal notice sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Saturday said country's people will serve a red notice on BNP and Khaleda Zia in the next general election, reports UNB. "As Khaleda Zia has started the game of notice, country's people will send a red notice to her and her party in the next general election," he said while addressing a discussion arranged by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the Jatiya Press Club marking the 6th death anniversary of Awami League leader Abdur Razzak. Mentioning that the election will be held as per the norm practised in the parliamentary democracy, Nasim asked BNP not to create any debate over it. "You have to be in the field. Don't run away."

About the Rangpur city polls, he said, "We've accepted people's verdict. We must have the mentality to accept defeat in the polls."

The ruling party leader also said they will discuss in the party forum the reasons behind the defeat of their candidate in the polls.

On December 19, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia sent a legal notice to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking an apology for making 'malicious and defamatory' remarks about her reported assets abroad.

In the notice, Khaleda demanded that the Prime Minister apologise unconditionally and publish it in the media by 30 days.

Or else, she will take legal steps to file a defamation suit against the Prime Minister demanding compensation for 'damaging' her reputation and image.

Earlier on December 7, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a press conference voiced her discontent as the mainstream media did not run any report on Khaleda Zia's 'assets in Saudi Arabia'.

According to some media reports based on the information by Global Intelligence Network' and 'Canadian TV channel The National, anti-corruption investigation in Saudi Arabia revealed that Khaleda and her family members have assets in that country.
