SYLHET: A 250-bed hospital was inaugurated at Sobhanighat in the city, aiming to provide modern healthcare facilities to the people of the district, reports UNB.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated Al Haramain Hospital formally on Thursday.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest he said, “Our health sector has achieved mentionable progress although we have limited resources. But we have to develop such a healthcare system so that poor people can get the services.”
Addressing the programme as special guest Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid private investment in health sector is very hopeful. Lauding chairman of the hospital Mahatabur Rahaman for his initiative for the development of heath care for Sylhet people, he said private sector can play a pivotal role in ensuring quality health care services.
Speaking at the programme, State minister for Health Mr. Zahid Maleque said the incumbent government is sincere enough for the development of private sector health care.
Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury MP, Awami League organising secretary advocate Misbah Uddin Siraj, former mayor and also city AL president Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, district AL general secretary Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury also spoke.
Al Haramain Hospital Pvt. Ltd. is a hospital designed to provide quality, affordable health care to the people of Sylhet using the latest medical, surgical and diagnostic equipment and facilities.
