The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 yesterday allowed alleged Razakar leader from Maheshkhali and former lawmaker Abdur Rashid alias Mohammad Rashid Miah bail, on conditions, reports BSS. The second tribunal granted Rashid, 86, bail as his counsel Md Shahjahan submitted a petition in this regard citing his old age and different health complications, he is suffering from. The tribunal also set October 11 to submit probe report of the case, allowing a time plea from prosecutor Rana Dasgupta. The two member ICT-2 panel passed the order yesterday morning. The investigation agency while probing the crimes committed by Cox's Bazar Razakar kingpins Salamat Ullah Khan, Rashid and Maulavi Jakaria, found the involvement of another 16 people with the crimes against humanity and acting on their plea, the tribunal had issued warrants to arrest them.
Police after that arrested Salamat, Rashid, Shamsuddoha, Jinnat Ali, Maulavi Osman Gani, Nurul Islam and Badshah Miah on different occasions. Of them, Shamsuddoha breathed his last in police custody on May 27.
According to the Investigation agency, the accused were involved in monstrous crimes like murder, genocide, rape, arson, looting and forced conversion during the War of Liberation.
