On December 7, the 150-volume Handwritten Dongba Scripture of Naxi People of Lijiang, Yunnan was collected by the National Museum of China. This event will play an active role in the protection, inheritance and promotion of traditional Naxi Dongba culture.
The collected Dongba scriptures are modelled on the Complete Translation and Annotation of Naxi Dongba Classics, itself 100 volumes, which was inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Memory Register in August 2003.Some 50 additional Dongba classics collected over recent years were also added. The 150-volume Dongba scripture covers all representative Dongba classics from Naxi-inhabited areas of both Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. They are of great value for studying the ancient Naxi people and other ethnic groups living in southwest China. (Xinhua)
