At least 15 female students of Asannagar-Kullagachha High School in Kotchandpur upazila of the district fell sick in their classrooms in a mass hysteria yesterday.
Headmaster of the school Nazmur Rahman said after the student assembly Sanzida Khatun, a class X student, fell sick suddenly. Later, 14 girls of class-VI and class-VII reported sick one after another. The school administration later admitted them to Kotchandpur health complex. At one stage, school authorities suspended all the classes for the day.
Provas Kumar Das, physician of Kotchandpur health complex, said: “The students have been suffering from psychogenic illness.”
