A bus caught fire in Shahbag area of the capital yesterday due to technical glitch. Eyewitnesses said the bus of ‘Midway Paribahan’ runs on the Moha-mmadpur–Arambagh route in Dhaka was stuck in traffic near BSMMU. All of a sudden smoke was coming out from the bus around 12pm. Then passengers of the bus and other vehicles left the place.
Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service South (Palashi Barrack) Abdul Halim said on information they rushed to the spot at 12.22pm. They suspected that the fire might be originated due to technical malfunction. No was one injured in the accident as passengers got down of the bus immediately after the fire originated.
The explosion caused a serious gridlock until 1pm and it created panic among the passengers and general people in the area.
Officer-in-charge of Shahabag Thana Abul Hasan said no case was file in this regard.
