Minister terms recent killings in AL stray incidents

Industries Minister and Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu yesterday termed the recent intra-party feuds in AL and resultant deaths ‘stray incidents.’ “It is not the party AL, but certain leader and activists of the party are responsible for such stray incidents,” he said, while addressing the exhibition of a book titled ‘Sheikh Hasina’s battle for democracy’ at the Shilpakala Academy in the capital. The AL senior leader argued that the ruling party is a big political party with a large number of leaders and workers. Some of them may have become involved in such incidents for their own interests and for such occurrences, the party itself is not responsible, he added.  The minister said that the Sheikh Hasina administration is committed to take stern actions against those who will get involved in intra-party feuds irrespective of their party affiliation.
Highlighting Sheikh Hasina’s political career, the industries minister said the killers of Bangabandhu wanted to annihilate all the members of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s family because they knew it well that the blood of Bangabandhu will speak out one day.
He said the country is moving towards progress under the astute leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh has already been turned into low-middle income state and in the near future, by 2021, the country will be turned into a middle income state and a developed one by 2041, he added. Jubo League chairman Omar Faruq Chowdhury chaired the programme.
