�Find causes for loss in navigability�

The shipping ministry yesterday directed the authorities concerned to find out the reasons why the Shimulia-Kewrakandi ferry route is losing its navigability.
The directive came after a meeting with shipping minister Shajahan Khan at the Secretariat.
“A team of experts will visit the spot today. Officers and experts of the BIWTA, the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) and the Bridges Division will comprise the team. We'll try to identify the causes for the rapid deterioration in the navigability of the Shimulia-Kewrakandi ferry route,” MA Matin told The Independent.
The authorities have suspended the RO-RO ferry services several times on the Shimulia-Kewrakandi route in the early hours on Friday and Sunday due to poor navigability, causing severe traffic congestion on both sides of the ferry terminal.
