The International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday set January 22 to frame charges against 18 alleged war criminals of Maheskhali, including ex-MP Salamat Ullah Khan, reports UNB. A three-member bench led by Judge Md Shahinur Islam set the date after hearing arguments of both sides.
Four of the accused- Salamat Ullah Khan, Nurul Islam, Badsha Mia and Osman Gani were present in the dock. Earlier on May 22, 2015, warrants were issued against the accused persons for a total of 13 charges including murder, torture, rape, arson, and looting during the 1971 Liberation War.
Police managed to arrest seven of them. Later, two of them died due to health complications and another was freed on bail.
