Law arrives today to take charge of junior Tigers

Stuart Law, the newly appointed technical advisor of Bangladesh Under-19 team, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today to take the charge of the team, a BCB official said.
The former head coach of the national team Law will work with the youth side for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup to be hosted by Bangladesh in January-February 2016. Law has agreed a term with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that will keep him with the Under-19 side for a period of 16 weeks including until the end of the team’s U19 CWC campaign.
After the contract with the Queensland cricket expired, Law was spending a free time which prompted him to take job with the youth in Bangladesh.
Australia-born Law will sign a four-month deal with BCB after landing here in the capital. His 16 weeks working time in Bangladesh will be split into three phases —August 24-September 18, October 26- November 20 and January 4 to February17.
Law, who had guided Bangladesh from 2011-12, will join with the Under-19 team in Khulna, where they will begin their training camp from August 30 to September 10.
“The board will announce a 22-23 member preliminary squad for the training camps. Besides a special camp for 10-11 players is going on, which will be ended on August 28. They all will leave Dhaka for Khulna on August 29,” said Nazmul Abedin Fahim, national manager of BCB Game Development.
Bangladesh had played all the eleven editions of the event since its inception in 1998. Their highest achievement in the tournament is to be fifth. The though even didn’t break the last four spot still, became plate champions four times in 1998, 2004, 2010 and 2014.
The Under-19 teams performance has been good over the last two years. What however would inspire them was their effortless victory in both home and away series against reigning champions South Africa.
Inspired by their recent performance and the home advantage, the board set an ambitious target of clinching championship for the first time in the history.
