The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined seven factories Tk 43.38 lakh for polluting the environment in Savar and Gazipur, reports UNB.
Following hearing at the DoE headquarters in the city, its Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) slapped the fine on the factories on different charges, said a DoE handout.
The factories—two in Savar and five in Gazipur—were harming the environment and ecology by releasing untreated liquid effluents.
The factories were set up and being run without taking environmental clearance and permission, the handout added.
