Photo exhibition held at DU
A day long ‘71’ Newspapers’ cutting exhibition’ was held at the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday. Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) organised the exhibition titled ‘Bijoyer Pothe, Songbadpotrer Sathe’ (Going to victory, with newspapers) marking 46th Victory Day of the country. DU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition at around 10am while DU teachers’ association president Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, DUJA president Asif Taasin, vice president Mir Arshadul Haque, joint secretary Abdul Hakim Abir and treasurer Abdul Karim, among other, were present on the occasion.
Applauding DUJA leaders and activists for this exhibition he said, “The organisation could also make an album consisting these cutting that represent Liberation War period which help young generation to know real history of country”. A total of 47 news papers cutting, from March to December in 1971’ exhibition continued to still 5:00 pm .
Four-day recitation programme begins at JU today
SAVAR: A four-day recitation programme will begin on Monday on Jahangirnagar University campus. Jahangirnagar University based cultural organisation Dhony will organise the programme at Selim Al Deen Muktamancho. The programme will be inaugurated through a rally which will be brought out from the Amar Ekushay premises of the campus. A recitation production ‘Kothamanobi’ will be recited by Dhony Dhaka. Prominent recitation artist Professor Tarek Salauddin Mahmud will be honored on the first day. The programme will start at 6pm every day.
Discussion on Victory Day held at EU
Eastern University (EU) organised a discussion at EU Seminar Hall at Dhanmondi in the capital yesterday in observence of Victory Day, says a press release. Kazi Reazul Hoque, chairman, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Bangladesh was chief guest and Engr Kh Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), EU was the guest of honour. Prof Md Nurul Islam, Vice-chancellor, Eastern University, presided over the programme.
The Chief Guest Kazi Reazul Hoque requested the young generation to cherish the spirit of the liberation earned through the lives of 3 million people. He then distributed prizes to the winners of the poetry recitation competition and cultural programme.
The programme ended with a closing note from the Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Islam and vote of thanks by the Registrar Abul Basher Khan.
