A suspected cattle thief was lynched at Sadipur in Faridpur Sadar upazila early yesterday The deceased was identified as Mati Sheikh, 30, a resident of Bilmamudpur village.
Quoting locals, police sources said a group of cattle thieves, including Mati, came to Sadipur village riding on a truck around 3:30am. Later, they entered into the cow shed of Jalal Munshi to steal their cows. As the inmates of the house cried for help, the villagers chased the thieves and caught Rasel red-handed. Other thieves managed to flee from the scene.
The agitating villagers gave a tremendous thrashing to Mati, leaving him critically injured. Later, Mati died while he was being moved to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, said OC of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Nazim Uddin.
