At least 15 people were injured in a clash between students of Daffodil University and some outsiders on Thursday night over a trifling matter, reports UNB. Campus sources said some students had a brawl with an outsider young man at a fast food outlet in front of the university in Dattapara area of Ashulia at night.
As a sequel to the incident, a group of outsiders, riding 10/12 motorbikes, appeared on the campus and attacked the students and fired seven rounds of bullets. At least 15 people were injured during chase and counter-chase among them.
The injured students were given first aid.
Later, students protested the incident setting fire on tyres on road in front of their campus. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Khorshed Alam, additional Ssuperintendent of police (Savar Circle) adding that action would be taken after investigation.
Police conducted an overnight drive at Paragram and Tongabari areas of Ashulia to arrest the miscreants.
