The fact-finding committee has submitted a report to the authorities of the Institute of Forest and Environmental Science of Chittagong University (CU) following an allegation of sexual harassment against one of its teacher.
In the report, the committee found preliminary evidence of the allegation against the teacher. Professor Dr Danesh Mia, director of the Institute of Forest and Environmental Science, confirmed the matter and said the committee submitted a report of 396 pages. They have taken signature from more than 150 students in this regard. The committee has found the Preliminary evidence of sexual and academic harassment in the investigation, he added.
“We have discussed in the academic committee in this regard. We will inform it to the Vice-chancellor about this issue,” said Dr Danesh Mia.
On 17 November, the third and eighth semester female students of the institute filed a complaint to the director of the institute.
In this regard, the authorities formed a fact-finding committee consist of three-member headed by Prof Gias Uddin Ahmed following the allegation of sexual harassment against Prof Rafiqul Haque, a teacher of the institute.
