‘Bijoy Mela’ inaugurated

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek MP urged people to present the actual history of the War of Liberation to the next generation while inaugurating ‘Bijoy Mela’ at Manikganj Govt High School Play Ground in Manikganj on Wednesday. The State Minister also urged the people to elect the Awami League again in the next national election for allowing the present government to go ahead with the development programmes. The function was presided over by Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Chairman, Manikganj Zila Parishad, Bijoy Mela udjapon Parishad and the President of Manikganj district Awami League.
Md. Nazmus Sadat Selim, Deputy Commissioner, Manikganj, Zakir Hasan, Additional SP, Advocate Abdus Salam, Public Prosecutor (PP) and General Secretary, Manikganj district Awami League, Advocate Abdul Majid Potu, Member Secretary, Bijoy Mela udjapon Parishad and AFM Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, Secretary, Red Crescent Society, Manikganj among others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers also said the Bijoy Mela is being celebrated with the spirit of liberation war to know the actual history of liberation war for our next generation.
17 children come back after 18 months from India
DINAJPUR: Indian immigration police today handed over 15 Bangladeshi children to the authority in the district, reports BSS. The children were living at an Observation Home in West Bengal for one and half a year for going India illegally. The children entered into Bangladesh through Hili border this noon, said Officer-in-Charge of Hili immigration police Md Aftab Hossain. The children are Jibon Rao, Roshidul Islam, Pradip Rao, Sumon Rao, Koilash Rao, Shonjit Rao, Shobuj Ali, Kamol Rao, Kamol Jali, Raton Rao, Sujon Ali, Koishob Rao, Dipjol Rao, Utpal Rao and Liton. Most children are the inhabitants of Kaharole and Bochaganj Upazila in the district.
The children were held by the Indian police one and half a year ago entering India illegally from the boarder. The Indian police later sent them to the Balurghat Observation Home in Dakshin Dinajpur in West Bengal.
Abducted couple rescued
Magura: Police rescued a couple from Elengkhali village in Mohammadpur upazila on Wednesday night a day after their abduction from Elengkhali Bridge area, reports UNB. The rescued were identified as Manna Molla, son of Motiar Molla and his wife Julekha Begum, residents of Nityanandapur village of the upazila. Officer-in-charge (OC) Tarikul Islam of Mohammadpur Police Station said a gang of miscreants adducted the couple while they were returning home from Dhaka on Tuesday night. After abduction, abductors demanded a huge amount of money as ransom from Manna’s brother.
