Two Korean professors meet DU VC
Two professors of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering of Kyungsung University of South Korea called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman on monday.
Prof Jin Woon Ahn and Prof Lee Dong Hee from the Korean university had a discussion with the DU VC at the latter's office, said a DU press release.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on Mechatronics Engineering between the two universities.
The DU VC sought cooperation from Korean professors to develop the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, which has been newly established at DU.
The Korean professors assured the VC of providing all possible help and support in this regard. They also stressed the need for building relationship between academia and industry to promote this department.
Chairperson of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of DU Prof Lafifa Jamal and some other lecturers of the same department were present on the occasion.
NSU wins ‘Econ Prodigy 3.0’
North South University (NSU) team became the champion of the ‘Econ Prodigy’, the flagship event by Young Economists’ Forum, first academic student organisation of North South University (NSU), on Sunday, says a press release.
Econ Prodigy 3.0 was the third installment of this prestigious event, which incidentally is also the biggest inter-university policy development competition in the country. The theme of the competition this year was Urbanization.
The champion team Icons of NSU received Tk one lakh at a ceremony held at the university premises. The first runner-up team Led Zeppelin of BRAC University received Tk 50,000, and the second runner-up team Defenders from Dhaka University received Tk 25,000 as monetary prize. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokhon was the chief guest while Benajir Ahmed, Member, Board of Trustees, NSU, attended the event as the guest of honour.
CU CAJ dept celebrates 23rd anniversary
The Communication and Journalism (CAJ) department of Chittagong University (CU) celebrated its 23rd founding anniversary amid great festivities and much enthusiasm on the campus on sunday.
CU Vice chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the programme as a chief guest while pro-vice chancellor of the university Prof Dr Shireen Akhter and Pro Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed, dean of social science faculty were present as special guest.
A procession led by the chairperson of the department Md Abul Kalam Azad was brought out on the campus from the Social science faculty. Teachers, alumnus, students and staff of the department took part in the rally.
Later, a discussion was held. Pro-VC Prof Shireen Akhter, social science faculty dean Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, CU proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury, Hayat Hossen, founding chairman of the department and some former students of the department attended.
