Prime accused confesses to court

COMILLA: Omar Faruque, a prime accused of killing a minor girl Suborna Akter Mim, gave the confessional statement to the court on Monday, reports UNB. Faruque, a private car driver and son of Mostafa Kamal of Belashohor area of Chandina municipality area, said to the court that he killed Mim by strangulating with a scarf after failing to rape her on December 6 last.
Biplab Kumar Debnath, a magistrate of district court, recorded his confessional statement of the killing under the Section 164 of Criminal Penal Code. Suborna Akter Mim, 7, daughter of Korban Ali, a former member of Bangladesh Police and a resident of Chandina municipality, went missing on that day and police recovered her body from Thangaon Bridge area in Keronkhal Union of Chandina upazila on December 7 last.
Omar Faruque said in his statement that he took Mim in Belashohor RNR Bricks field area in his car on that day and tried to rape her.
He failed, but Mim lost her consciousness at one stage and Omar killed her by strangulating her with a scarf.
Later he dumped the body Thangaon Bridge area and demanded Tk 10 lakh ransom from Korban Ali over mobile phone.
Police arrested Omar following the phone call, police sources said.
