4 to walk gallows for murder

A Dhaka court sentenced four people to death and two others to life term imprisonment in a case filed for killing Rana, a CNG-run three-wheeler driver, reports UNB. The Judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, Abdur Rahman Sardar, passed the order yesterday morning. The death row convicts are Masud Ali, Al Amin alias Alam, Jahangir Hossain and Shafiqul Islam Robin. The lifers Babla and Manir Hossain were also fined Tk 20,000, in default of which they will have to serve one more year in jail. On January 9, 2009, the three-wheeler driver was hacked to death by his co-workers over the distribution of extorted money at Staff Quarter field of Demra in Jatrabari. The following day, Sub-inspector Abul Kalam Azad filed a murder case with Demra Police Station in this regard.
