President Md Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Istanbul yesterday night to attend the 6th Extraordinary Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), reports UNB. A Turkish Airlines flight carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:45pm, said the officer-in-charge of immigration polcie at the airport. Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh, chiefs of three services, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and Inspector General of Police saw the President off at the airport. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the special conference to discuss the repercussions of the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The special conference will be held in Istanbul on December 13 where the President is expected to deliver his speech highlighting Bangladesh's position over the issue.
