Transport worker stabbed to death

A transport worker was stabbed to death in Mashkanda area of the district town this morning.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Shahabuddin, 26, son of late Abdul Jalil of Agrakanda area in Mashkanda.

Mahmudul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station said Shahabuddin and some other youths of the area used to work at Mashkanda Bus Stand area. There had been an altercation between Shahabuddin and his co-worker Jewel as Jewel demanded Taka 20 from Shahabuddin.

At one stage, Jewel attacked on Shahabuddin with sharp weapons, the OC added.

He was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) where the doctors declared him dead. Police recovered the body and sent it to MMCH morgue for

autopsy.

Meanwhile, police arrested Jewel from Mymensingh town this afternoon.
