Missing minor girl found dead
A minor girl was found dead in Thangaon Bridge area in Keronkhal union in Comilla on Thursday morning a day after she went missing.
The deceased was identified as Suborna Akter Mim, 7, daughter of Korban Ali, a former member of Bangladesh Police and a resident of Chandina municipality.
Quoting victim's father, Chandina Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Ali Mahmud said Mim, a class-I student of Ikra Mohila Madrasa, went missing on Wednesday afternoon and someone demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom over phone at night. Later, locals spotted Mim's body near Thangaon Bridge in the morning and informed police.
One killed in rival attack
A man was killed and his six family members were injured in an attack by his rivals over land dispute at Rakkitpara village in Rajshahi on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Akbar Ali, 60, a resident of Bagmara village of the upazila.
Witnesses said Akbar Ali and his neighbour Mochon Ali had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land at the village. As the court order went in favor of Akbar, he called a meeting of local leaders at his house on Wednesday noon. At the meeting, rivals group attacked the residents of the house, leaving seven of the family members injured, Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, said on Thursday, quoting locals.
The injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Akbar succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 pm.
12 women activists of Jamaat held
Police arrested at least 12 women activists of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh from a house in Belghoria under Motihar Police Station of Rajshahi city on Wednesday night.
Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station said on secret information that some women gathered at a house of Mir Hossain of the area for a secret meeting, a team of police conducted a drive and arrested them. Police also recovered some Jihadi books and leaflets, the OC added.
Sub-standard medicines seized
DB (Detective Branch) of police on Wednesday in a drive in Mohammadpur area of Chittagong arrested three people along with huge amount of sub-standard medicines. The arrestees were identified as Md Shahidullah, 37, Md Shariful Islam Masud, 30, Rasel Barua, 22.
DB police in a drive seized sub-standard medicines from Saika Pharmacy at West Sholoshahr of the city.
“The arrestees were medical representatives of the different medicines companies. Leaving the job they have started producing sub-standard medicines of the different well-known brands”, said Habibur Rahman, inspector of DB.
New office bearers
The annual election of All Community Club Ltd was held on club premises in the capital on Saturday, says a press release.

Info fair begins in Khulna
A three-day Information Fair began in the Khulna city yesterday aiming to create mass awareness about their right to information.
Khulna District Administration, the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and Conscious Citizen Committee (CCC) Khulna district unit jointly organised the fair at the deputy commissioner’s office premises.
A discussion on ‘Citizen Awareness for Implementing the Right to Information Act-2009’ was held at the first day of the fair, followed by a cultural function.
