Inter-college athletic competition begins at RU
The 40th ‘Inter-college Athletics Competition’ was held at the Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday through prize giving ceremony.
Around 260 athletes participated at the 41 events. RU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan handed over the prize among the winners as chief guest on the occasion while its pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Shaha was present as special guest and president of Athletics and Aquatics sub- committee Prof Shibli Sadik presided over the programme. University Proctor Prof Dr Lutfor Rahman, Student Advisor Prof Zannatul Ferdous, Public Relation Officer Prof Pravash Kumar Karmakar, provost of different halls, teachers and officials, among others, attended the ceremony.
IU B, G unit entry test results published
KUSHTIA: The results of the admission tests of 'B' and 'G' units under Humanities and Social Science and Business Administration Faculties of Islamic University (IU) for 2017-2018 academic session were published on Wednesday. Coordinators of the two units -- Prof Dr Jahangir Hossen and Prof Dr Kazi Akhtar Hossain -- jointly handed the results over to university Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari around 3:30 pm. IU Pro-VC Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha and acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif were, among others, present on the occasion. Applicants can know their results from the university website www.iu.ac.bd, they added.
Public lecture held at BRAC University
The Department of Economics and Social Sciences (ESS) and BRAC University Economics Club jointly organised a public lecture at the university auditorium at Mohakhali in the capital yesterday, says a press release.
Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, former adviser to a caretaker government and senior country advisor of International Growth Centre, delivered the lecture titled ‘Why Economics?’. BRAC University Vice Chancellor Prof Syed Saad Andaleeb inaugurated the programme.
Talking on rationality of economic behaviours, Dr Wahiduddin, also chairman of South Asia Network of Economic Research Institutes and Economic Research Group, pointed at the large scale loan defaults, saying this was a result of rules not being enforced and norms or ethics being nearly non-existent.
The informative and enlightening lecture focused on other necessities of economics in real life, illustrating the relevance of major economic theories of market efficiency, international trade, public goods.
Training on professional development held
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Gono Bishwabidyalay hosted a two-day training workshop for faculty members at its IQAC conference hall yesterday, says a press release. More than 50 teachers from different departments attended the event.
Gono Bishwabidyalay’s Registrar Md Delower Hossain inaugurated the training programme while Mostafizer Rahman, IQAC Director of Gono Bishwabidyalay presided over the programme. Muhammad Munir, Additional Director, IQAC, United International University, conducted the training course. In the first day, he trained on Cooperative Learning Method and Classroom Management. In the last day he will train on MBTI, Impression Management and Dealing with difficult personalities. The training workshop will be end on 9 December, 2017.
