Md Siddiqullah, former News Editor of now-defunct The Bangladesh Observer, passed away here early yesterday, reports UNB. He was 87. He breathed his last at his Khilgaon Chowdhurypara residence around 5am, said his son-in-law Prof Md Shahjahan Mazumder, also a News Editor of The New Nation.
He left behind wife, one son and four daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at the National Press Club after Zohr prayers. Later, he was buried at Banani graveyard following another janaza at Chowdhurypara Matir Masjid after Asr prayers.
Siddiqullah served then The Bangladesh Observer in different capacities, including News Editor, for 56 years since 1954. He also served the Morning News as a News Editor during the Pakistan era for some time.
