Stocks finished the week down yesterday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities, reports BSS. The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 58.63 points down at 6,248.23.
The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 6.06 points down at 2,264.08. But, the Shariah DSES closed the week with 7.92 points up at 1,389.43 respectively. Out of the 336 issues traded on DSE, 142 gained against 168 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value declined by nearly 21 per cent to Tk 602.26 crore and the average trade volume fell by 27.8 per cent to 15.80 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Shyampur Sugar, Meghna Petroleum, CAPMBDBLMF, Samata Leather and Meghna Condense Milk. The major losing issues of the week were ICB Islamic Bank, WMSHIPYARD, Standard Bank, Pubali Bank and PLFSL. The top five turnover leaders were BD Thai, Square Pharma, GP, BRAC Bank and PTL. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 172.23 points lower at 19, 336.54.
