A 15-day solo water colour exhibition titled ‘Voyage of Nature’ by Canada-based Bangladeshi artist S. Helal Uddin is currently on display at Gallery Chitrak, Dhanmondi in the city. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on Thursday at the gallery premises. Presided over by Eminent artist Professor Rafiqun Nabi, Nasir A Choudhury, Advisor, Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd. attended the opening ceremony as special guest.
A total number of 50 artworks in water colours by the artiste have been showcased in the exhibition.
According to noted art critic Takir Hossain from the ‘Voyage Of Nature 2015’ brochure, “Helal has the ability to create an authentic milieu as a background for characters to heighten the drama. He has used subdued colours and tones where Dhaka city’s socio-economic and cultural structures, metropolitan hustle and bustle, architectural and structural improvement have been mirrored. He scrupulously paints Rabindra Sarobar, Dhanmondi Lake and its serene ambiance, streets, rain drenched city and more. He consciously paints a bunch of papaya, a group of geese, boats, blooming water lilies, fishing, a bunch of green coconut, a haul of prawn, etc.”
S Helal completed his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and MFA in Oil Painting Department from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. He participated in Pine Ridge Art Councils 14 annual Juried Art Show, Canada; CSPWC Annual Art Exhibition, Canada; 8th and 13th National Art Exhibition organised  by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He received awards from different organization and institutions, including ‘Shahid Amit Bashak Memorial award’ by the Institute of Fine Arts, Bangladesh.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 10am to 8pm until September 4.
Address: Gallery Chitrak, House 4, Road 6, Dhanmondi. l
