Customs officials arrested two Indian citizens along with 20 gold bars worth Tk one crore from international check post of Benapole Port in Jessore yesterday, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Nasirul Haque, 38, son of Nurul Haque, a resident of Iqbalnagar in Delhi and Sanjib Varma, 35, son of Mahindar Varma, a resident of Uttarnagar area in Bihar. Abdus Sadek, deputy commissioner of Benapole Customs Intelligence, said based on a secret information, a team of customs intelligence conducted a drive there and arrested the Indian citizens. Customs officials recovered 20 pieces of gold bars after searching the bodies of two arrestees. A case was filed in this connection.
