22 companies win ICSB award

Twenty-two listed companies won the 4th “Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) Nat’l Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2016”, reports BSS.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed handed over the award certificates at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital on Thursday, said a press release yesterday.

The award went to the listed companies in 8 categories under Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

Addressing the programme, Tofail Ahmed said the government is committed to ensure good governance and corporate culture.

He applauded the ICSB role for developing professional skills in the listed companies.

Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose and Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Dr M Khairul Hossain and former Finance Advisor Dr AB Mirza M Azizul Islam also attended the award giving ceremony.

In Banking category,  Prime Bank won the gold while Southeast Bank and Eastern Bank got silver and bronze respectively.

In non-banking category, IDLC Finance got the gold while International Leasing And Financial Services and Union Capital achieved silver and bronze respectively.

Likewise in Insurance Companies category, Green Delta Insurance received the gold while Prime Insurance and Phoenix Insurance bagged silver and bronze respectively.

In Pharmaceutical, Food and Allied Companies category, IBN SINA Pharmaceutical got the gold while Golden Harvest Agro and Square Pharmaceuticals got silver and bronze respectively.

Likewise, in Textiles and RMG category, Envoy Textiles got the gold and Shasha Denims and Square Textiles bagged silver and bronze respectively.  In IT, Telecom and Services Companies category, Grameenphone won the gold while Eastern Housing silver.

In Engineering, Fuel and Power Companies category, MJL Bangladesh got the gold while Singer Bangladesh silver.

In Manufacturing and  Chemicals Companies category, RAK Ceramics won the gold while British American Tobacco Bangladesh and Heidelberg Cement won silver and bronze respectively.
