Spontaneous income tax pay to strengthen economy

Government officials at a pre-rally discussion in Rangpur on Thursday called upon eligible citizen to spontaneously pay income tax for strengthening national economy, reports BSS.
Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioners Office organised the rally in observance of the National Income Tax Day-2017 to raise awareness on paying income taxes and strengthen mutual trust between taxpayers and income tax officials.
Led by Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed, income tax officials and employees, civil society members, business community leaders, professionals and elite of the city participated in the rally.
With Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Harun-Ar-Rashid in the chair, the Divisional Commissioner addressed the pre-rally brief discussion as the chief guest.
Additional Deputy Inspector for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Bashir Ahmed, Additional Police Super Md Fazle Elahi and President of Rangpur Taxes Bar Association Advocate Aminul Islam spoke as special guests.
Additional Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Monwar Ahmed in his welcome address narrated the importance of observance of the day.
The chief guest Kazi Hassan Ahmed said the number of eligible citizens for paying income taxes is now increasing with the improving socioeconomic scenario of the country.
The nation would not need foreign assistance in future if the eligible taxpayers paid their taxes regularly for strengthening countrys national economy, he said.
Harun-Ar-Rashid said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has modernised the tax fixation methods and made the tax payment process easier while the officials concerned are working with a changed mindset for increasing revenue collection.
He called upon the eligible tax payers for paying income taxes spontaneously by availing the facilities being provided by the NBR to increase national revenue collection.
